Foundations of Analytical Psychology - Oxford
The Society runs a number of courses throughout the year. On this page you will find information about our psychodynamic supervision course and the Introduction to Jungian and Post-Jungian Concepts course, which runs on Tuesday evenings in Oxford or on Wednesday evenings in London.
Supervision Course
11th October 2008 - 11th July 2009
The SAP is a member organisation of the British Psychoanalytic Council. The course leads to the SAP Certificate in Supervision which, in conjunction with an optional written paper, satisfies the requirements for membership of the British Association for Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Supervision. The course is in two strands:
- Theory and Practice of Supervision: 10 monthly Saturday workshops, 9:30 - 3:00pm, at the SAP. These include presentations by senior SAP analysts, including contributors and editors of three leading books in the field. There is an optional written paper of 5000 words. Dates: 11 Oct, 8 Nov, 6 Dec, 17 Jan, 14 Feb, 14 March, 25 April, 16 May, 13 June and 11 July.
- Supervision of Supervision: in weekly groups led by senior SAP analysts. Group times and locations: Mondays 10-11:30am with Christine Driver at 71 Umfreville Rd, London N4 1RZ or Tuesdays 3:20-4:50pm with Jan Wiener at the SAP, 1 Daleham Gardens NW3 5BY or Wednesdays 11am-12:30pm with Dr. David Hewison, also at the SAP. Additional groups may be possible in West or Southwest London, Cambridge, Surrey, Sussex, North Derbyshire or Rutland. Supervision in pairs or individual supervision may be arranged in exceptional circumstances.
Applicants should normally have 3 years’ clinical experience post-qualification, be registered with BPC, UKCP or accredited with BACP, and are expected to be working as supervisors by the start of the course. A psychodynamic training and substantial experience of therapy/analysis is required.
Fees: £1250 for the course, £900 for supervision of supervision.

Foundations of Analytical Psychology
A Further Exploration in Jungian Concepts as Seen Through the Freud/Jung Letters

This series will build on the Freud – Jung correspondence to explore the development of Jung’s concepts and how these evolved out of the early psychoanalytic movement. Attendance at the Oxford Freud – Jung Letters’ conference on September 29th 2007 (see information on the Conferences page of this website) will be relevant but is not essential. The discussions will take in some of the associated reading mentioned in the letters, following the interests of the group.

Clinical Discussions
January - March 2008
OXFORD - 6 Fortnightly Tuesday Evenings, 6.30pm -8pm
This is a series of discussions for people who are working as counsellors
or psychotherapists either in an agency setting or in private practice.
Participants will present material from their own work. It is not intended
that this will take the place of supervision. Nevertheless, participants
will be asked to confirm that they carry professional indemnity insurance
or that such cover is in place through the agency setting. The number of
discussion groups formed will depend on the number of participants interested.
